Mission u is a diverse community of people learning to put their faith into practical action in the current world context. Mission u reflects the theology of The United Methodist Church and the practice of joining personal holiness with social holiness. Through worship, in-depth study, music, prayer, sharing and exploring, we invite you to grow with us in understanding of the mission of the church.  Lay Speaker credit available.
Studies will be: What about Our Money? A Faith Response by Rita Ulrich
Embracing wholeness: An Earth Perspective for Covenantal Living by Peg Plimpton

More Information on the Mission Studies and books required for the classes can be found on the
National UMW website.  Books should be read in advance of Mission u.

Study Leader: Peg Plimpton

Peg is a former YAC Lay Leader. She is a graduate of the Univ. of Montana with a Master & PhD in Psychology. Peg is a Lay speaker who has completed the Academy for Spiritual Formation. She has also served on numerous committees within her local congregation, Missoula First, and has been an alternate and delegate to General Conference and Western Jurisdiction.

THE STUDY: Embracing Wholeness: An Earth Perspective for Covenantal Living

The 2018 Spiritual Growth Study, Embracing Wholeness is the second in a two-part series about covenantal living. Part 1, by Evy McDonald, Living as a Covenant Community explores the scriptural definitions in order to bridge these definitions with their application and their implications for the modern church. Part 2, Embracing Wholeness is designed to build on this work it explores the ways God has called us to live in covenantal relationship with all of creation and challenges readers to work toward stronger and healthier relationships with creation, their communities, themselves, and God.

Study Leader: Janet Ulrich
Janet grew up in Idaho and Montana, graduating from Flathead High School, in Kalispell, and MSU in Bozeman, with a degree in accounting. She began my career in Helena, with the Federal Highway administration. Janet moved to Baltimore and then Anchorage, AK for more than 35 years, retiring from the FAA in 2016. Her mother & grandmother are/were UMW, so it was natural for her to join UMW in Alaska. She served as treasurer, served in local, conference, regional school, and jurisdiction positions, from the COM, to president. Janet is beginning her tenure as Western Mountains District Program Resources and is treasurer of her unit.

THE STUDY: What About Our Money? A Faith Response

A Faith Response explores how we relate to money within the context of our faith. Through this connection between our faith and our money, readers discover how to live closer to God and God’s people, even in our North American culture that is so deeply defined by money. She explores the biblical foundation of abundance (sufficiency), which stands in opposition to the scarcity narrative our culture tells us from the time we are very young.
