In October 2011 a group of young people, who were interested in mission work, were charged with representing the Youth Ministry Team and the Yellowstone Conference in the first international mission trip. The team chose to travel to Nassau, Bahamas because of its relative safe environment, good working relationship with the United Methodist Church & the Rocky Mountain Conference, our sister conference. The Mission Academy (www.themissionacademy.com) will host many UMC groups July 1-7 2012 and Mike Shinn & Loren Boyce our coordinators while the team is in the Bahamas. They have worked with us for almost 8 months on this project by helping us find housing, travel, and mission projects that fit our team's size and talents.
Speaking of our team... Check out their blog by clicking here and you can meet the eight people that are embarking on this journey. Our fearless leaders are Rev. Morie Adams-Griffin (Belgrade, MT) & Lacey Heppner (Belgrade, MT). And our youth team is made up of Michaela Akers (Belgrade, MT), Riely Heppner (Helena, MT), Cole Greenfield (Bozeman, MT), Katelyn Dickensheets (Bozeman, MT), Sydney Otey (Billings, MT), Zach Nell (Billings, MT).
Check out the blog for their thoughts on preparing for the trip, their travel adventures, their work on the island, the stories of their "encounter", photos & videos of their week & followups the week after the mission trip.
Thank you for your support of our first international Youth Mission Encounter through your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service. We are all part of the Yellowstone Conference of the United Methodist Church but we come to this project from different backgrounds - we are excited to share our Mission Encounter with you!
