Margaret Stipes Obituary

Margaret Ann Stipes passed away on Nov. 6, 2015 at the age of 83. She was born in Neodesha, Kansas to the late Leonard E. and Helen Jean Bonnell Carter on March 9, 1932. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1947 where she became a member of the First United Methodist Church and graduated from Classen High School.

She married Rev. John William Pfleiderer in 1953. The couple served at Methodist churches in Colorado and Montana. They adopted two children and she spent many happy years as a part-time choir member and full-time mother. In 1972, she returned to Oklahoma City as a single parent, working for Corken International Pump Company until her retirement in 1999.

In the late 1980’s, Margaret reconnected with a friend she had known since she was 16 and the two eventually started dating. Margaret and Robert Stipes were married in 1992. Sadly, Robert passed away less than a year later but the memory of his love sustained her for the rest of her life.

Margaret was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She was active in P.E.O. International for 48 years. She counted the members of her Sunday school class and her P.E.O. sisters to be among her most precious blessings.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen M. Pfleiderer, and daughter-in-law, Theresa J. Barringer Pfleiderer. She is survived by Elaine M. Pfleiderer (daughter), Helen M. Carter Conley (sister), Olin O. Conley (brother-in-law), Clay Conley (nephew) and his wife Darnell and their two children Ian and Jackson, Bob Conley (nephew) and his wife Deborah and their two children Katie and John. She also leaves behind numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Nov. 13, 2015 at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 North Asbury Avenue, Bethany, OK 73008.
