Thirty-two women worshiped, studied, and fellowshipped while learning how to be happy eating "new world" foods at the Summer Mission u held at Mission Valley United Methodist Church in St. Ignatius, Montana, from Aug. 7 to 8.

Marcia Prather, who has served a number of medical missions in Latin America, led participants through centuries of struggle and hope. One student thanked Marcia for making a "dry study" live. Many students have connections to Latin America through travel, marriage, or professional interactions, but had scant knowledge of the history and U.S. involvement in the southern hemisphere.

Happiness is contagious and Stacey King shared the virtues of living cheerfully. The attendees danced, laughed, and shared joys. Working together in small groups, the buzz was steady and more than once it was an effort to continue through the studies because of the energy.

Three scholarships were awarded to first-time attendees. The Winter Mission u will take place at Shiloh UMC in Billings, Montana from Feb. 5 to 6, 2016. Learn more about Mission u on the Yellowstone Conference UMW page online.
