Rocky Mountain Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church
June 19-22, 2014

In the company of descendants of the Sand Creek Massacre, more than 600 United Methodist of the Rocky Mountain Conference went on pilgrimage to the massacre site last Friday.  We received the mark of ashes, representing grief and repentance.  Our presence was to honor those whose lives were taken and to promote healing of historic wounds.

Below is the Episcopal Address I delivered on June 19 to the Rocky Mountain Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.  It is similar to one delivered earlier this month in Yellowstone Conference.  In it I address both the Unity of the Church and Commemoration of the Massacre.

Links to press about the Pilgrimage are also below.
