Supporting Pastors in Angola
6/17/2013
Approximately $4,707 was raised for Angola pastors at annual conference through an offering, silent auction, and notecard sales. Woo Hoo! That will almost provide 2 months of salary for 60 pastors.
Last Sunday morning a group attending Annual Conference in Billings skyped with Rev. Pedro Gouveia, Rev. Filipe Tshibwila and Alcides Martins (manager of the pastor’s supplemental salary project and translator). Rev. Gouveia serves as a pastor in Malange and Rev....

Lots of UMCOR Supplies
6/9/2013
Yellowstone Conference came through again! Thousands and thousands of cleaning bucket supplies were collected from across the conference. These supplies are on their way to the Salt Lake City UMCOR Depot where they will be sent to people affected by events like the tornadoes in Oklahoma. When disasters happen, United Methodists reach out in a variety of ways. Cleaning buckets are a tangible way that we are connecting to people in need.

Imagine No Malaria - Let's get 500,000
6/9/2013
United Methodist churches in Montana and Wyoming aim to raise $500,000 for the Imagine No Malaria campaign over the next year to combat the deadly disease in Africa.
“One out of five children (in Africa) die before age 5, and the largest killer of children under 5 is malaria,” said Bishop Elaine Stanovsky, who was at a fundraising and awareness event for the campaign Saturday evening at Evangelical United Methodist Church, located at 345 Broadway Ave....
Inter-generational Ministry
6/8/2013
At Annual Conference today we will be talking about being missional as a church. One of the arguments Reggie McNeal our speaker makes is that missional is about a way of being. Missional is not one program of the church, but embracing a way of being. Part of this is celebrating a day of hard work. Yesterday at conference we did a lot of hard work. We passed a budget demonstrating responsible spending based on what our income has been. We discussed tough...
Church needs to come together for the common good
6/8/2013
Nearly every weekday afternoon, I go to the YMCA to pick up my son. He loves the after-school program, and, as a pastor on the run most days, so do I.
Recently, as I entered the downtown building, my eyes glanced at the organization’s name and a question hit my brain: Do we remember what the “C” stands for? When we’re gesticulating wildly on the dance floor to that ridiculous Village People song, “YMCA,” do we recall what word we are...
Being Church in Tournament
6/8/2013
Pastor Linda Fritz is a well known fixture in the gyms of the Class B schools. Attending the games is not only her passion, but a mission that many in the community have come to know. Linda is a single woman who has never had any children. All the children in the community are hers. She arrives, often late, with pigtails flying. She is missed on those rare occasions when she is not present. Not only do the kids know that she is there for them,...

Bishop's Sermon for Annual Conference
5/26/2013
Lay leaders from around the conference have been working hard to contact churches to resource them with tools to use for worship on June 9 during Annual Conference. The hope is that churches will be able to conduct a vibrant and quality worship experience without a clergy person present. During this Sunday clergy are requested to remain at conference and to participate fully as members of the conference. This gives us a chance as a conference to worship, share dreams, and...
